Malaysia Hosts BICSI SEA 2026: Powering AI Infrastructure and Digital Talent Growth

Malaysia has reinforced its position as a regional digital infrastructure hub with the soft launch of the second edition of the BICSI Southeast Asia Malaysia Conference & Exhibition 2026.

The event was officiated by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Human Resources, Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof, marking another milestone in Malaysia’s push to strengthen its digital ecosystem.

Building on the success of its inaugural 2025 edition in Johor Bahru and its Vietnam edition earlier this year, the conference will take place on July 21–22 at Sunway Resort Hotel. It will focus on advancing information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure excellence amid a rapidly evolving, AI-driven landscape.

In his address, Azman emphasised that strengthening the nation’s talent pipeline remains a top priority as Malaysia continues to expand its digital economy. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the ICT sector contributes RM451.3 billion, or 23.4 per cent, to the national economy and employs over 1.25 million people. Between 2022 and 2025, more than RM342 billion in digital investments were approved, expected to generate over 114,000 new jobs—most of them knowledge-based.

He noted that the scale of these investments underscores rising demand for skilled professionals, particularly in data centres, network infrastructure and AI. Azman stressed that building a future-ready workforce goes beyond numbers, requiring the right skills, certifications and industry exposure to meet increasingly complex technological demands.

Organised by Tecnoviq Learning Academy (TECLA), an affiliate of BICSI Southeast Asia and part of the global ICT standards authority BICSI, the conference also highlights the importance of international collaboration. Azman said that partnerships with global bodies like BICSI will strengthen Malaysia’s talent ecosystem by aligning local capabilities with internationally recognised benchmarks, in line with the Dasar TVET Negara 2030.

He further underscored the need for closer collaboration among industry, training institutions and policymakers to address skills mismatches and support workforce mobility.

Echoing this, Executive Chair of BICSI Southeast Asia, Dr. Garies Chong, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to elevating industry standards, nurturing skilled talent and fostering regional collaboration to build a resilient ICT ecosystem.

The conference is expected to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, technology providers and educators from across the region. It has garnered support from agencies including MDEC, MTDC, Invest Selangor, Sidec and Cyberview, alongside industry partners and global sponsors.

Organisers are continuing to welcome corporate sponsorships, offering companies a platform to showcase capabilities and engage with key stakeholders. Interested parties are encouraged to connect with a TECLA representative for partnership opportunities via email at info@bicsi-sea.org
