CzipVillage: 4,000 Malaysians Show Up for Analogue Experience Despite Cautious Economic Climate
Now in its fifth year, CzipVillage by CzipLee cements itself as the region’s annual creative gathering for people, pen & paper
Kuala Lumpur, 22 June 2026 – CzipVillage, a curated creative gathering centred around journalling, stationery, art and intentional experiences, welcomed 4,000 visitors to The Venue @ ONE Bangsar on 13 and 14 June 2026.
Themed "You Are The Living Archive" and anchored by four pillars - Market, Record, Create and Gather, the event encouraged attendees to slow down, reconnect with themselves. CzipVillage was produced by CzipLee in collaboration with:
- Sumthings of Mine, the journalling and stationery lifestyle store behind the SOMe Market, alongside experiential creative collaborators such as:
- Cultprint: Founded in 2020 as a print studio in George Town, Penang, by artists Ernest Zacharevic and Sheena Liam
- AACE | Kawan Guni: Community and Sustainability Impact Partner of CzipVillage
- Oatbedient: A forward-thinking brand serving plant-based beverages
- Universal Bakehouse: A neighbourhood community bakehouse
- Bangsar Village and ONE Bangsar: Venue partners
"We were hesitant to roll out CzipVillage given the overall cautious economic sentiment. We surveyed business leaders and they said go ahead. Malaysians would save up and spend for curated experiential events.
“We're glad we did. It held a special meaning for people to reconnect and slow down," said Alvin Chen, Executive Director of CzipLee.
The event recorded an 80% return rate for the journaling and stationery vendors from all across South East Asia. Countries include: Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong.
63 stationery and journalling vendors showcased their artisan, handcrafted designs which were exceptionally well received by Malaysians.
Food & beverage (F&B) vendors also returned with a 100% return rate. They provided countless attendees with delightful baked goods, coffee, gelato and chocolates with vendors encompassing:
- Artisan gelato makers: Waka Waka Gelato & Piccoli Lotti
- Independent bakeries: Bisou Bake Shop, Em’s Soft Chunky Cookies & Manis By WildFlour
- Local chocolatier: KEDAI COKLAT COCORAW
- Specialty coffee & cafes: Summation & WHITELAND
“A big shoutout to Universal Bakehouse who was the anchor food & beverage provider. The stellar crew provided comforting Malaysian meals to 4,000 attendees, vendors and the extended CzipLee team over the weekend.
“We are proud to work with a network of like-minded small medium enterprises (SMEs) that enable such community driven events to be possible.
“It showcases the resilience and innovation of Malaysian businesses despite a challenging year,” added Alvin Chen.
This year’s edition is supported by key sponsors and brand partners, including Oatbedient and Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Bangsar. As part of the collaboration, Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Bangsar contributed a special lucky draw prize: a complimentary two-day, one-night stay for two people. The event is also supported by stationery partners such as: Campus by KOKUYO, PILOT, Loka Made, STAEDTLER, Shachihata and ZEBRA. Collateral partners such as Fujifilm [Malaysia], RJ Paper & Paper& Print produced printed materials for the event.
Commenting on the response of the market this year, Jason Chen, Executive Director of CzipLee said, “We implemented ticketing this year at RM10 per entry. Children below 12 years old entered for free.
“Ticketing allowed us to manage crowd flow better. We had feedback that customers could now browse through the various aisles and interact with vendors more easily this year. The funds also went towards supporting sustainability, with AACE | Kawan Guni as our sustainability partner.
“We are improving as we curate each event. Community is at the centre of what we do. We are grateful for the trust and support by our own team, partners, vendors, as well as returning and new customers who have made CzipVillage a success,” he further added.
