The Chicken Rice Shop Turns "26" with a Fresh New Look and More to Love

PETALING JAYA, 12 AUGUST 2026 – Twenty-six years in serving Malaysians. "The Chicken Rice Shop" (TCRS), celebrates its 26th anniversary, is giving Malaysians more reasons to come back, unveiling a fresh new look, exciting menu additions, new merchandise, and a renewed commitment to the communities it has served since 2000.

The homegrown halal restaurant chain’s anniversary refresh features a revitalised mascot, updated staff uniforms, a refreshed printed menu and an expanded merchandise range, including its own Sambal Chilli Crunch.

While its signature Hainanese Chicken Rice remains at the heart of the brand, TCRS is showcasing the breadth of Malaysian flavours with new creations such as Boneless Crispy Roast Chicken, Strawberry Kunafa Pai Tee, BBQ Chicken Mayo Pai Tee and Cakoi with Pandan Gula Melaka.

“Twenty-six years in, we’re still the same Chicken Rice Shop that Malaysians have trusted – we’ve simply found new ways to serve them better,” said Jane Wong, Deputy General Manager of The Chicken Rice Shop Restaurants Sdn. Bhd.

The milestone also highlights TCRS’ long-standing community efforts. Since 2000, its CSR programme has sponsored more than 7,000 meals annually for orphanages, welfare organisations and nurseries across Malaysia.

Today, TCRS has grown to more than 160 outlets nationwide, continuing its mission to make familiar, affordable Malaysian flavours accessible to more families.

The celebrations continue with TCRS’ annual Merdeka campaign, running until 20 September 2026. The RM16.90 Merdeka Combo features a choice of Steamed, Roast or Soy Sauce Chicken, Chicken Rice, Keropok Lekor or Penang Rojak, and a 12oz soft drink – a wallet-friendly invitation to gather, eat and celebrate together.
