HOYA Malaysia Launches Free Eye Exams for Children Through Nationwide ‘A Million Visions’

In conjunction with World Sight Day 2025, HOYA Malaysia is renewing its commitment to children’s eye health with the return of its nationwide initiative, A Million Visions. Running from 16 to 22 October 2025, the campaign offers free eye examinations for children aged 5 to 12 at over 800 participating Eye Care Professional Optical Stores across Malaysia.

Following the success of its 2024 debut, A Million Visions continues to raise awareness about the growing issue of childhood myopia and the importance of early detection. By offering free professional assessments, the campaign encourages parents to take proactive steps in managing their children’s vision from an early age.

At the heart of the initiative is HOYA’s MiYOSMART lenses – innovative spectacle lenses clinically proven to slow the progression of myopia in children. Developed using Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (D.I.M.S.) Technology, MiYOSMART lenses provide clear vision while supporting long-term eye health through a non-invasive, research-backed approach.

In 2025, HOYA Malaysia further supported this effort by introducing the MiYOSMART Early Control Subsidy, offering an instant RM350 discount on MiYOSMART lenses. This subsidy ensures more families can access advanced myopia control solutions and reinforces the urgency of early intervention.

“Too many children miss out on vital eye care due to lack of awareness, accessibility, and cost,” said Lew Chee Quin, Managing Director of Malaysian Hoya Lens Sdn. Bhd. “A Million Visions is more than a campaign — it’s a long-term commitment to reshaping how we view children's eye health in Malaysia.”

This year also marks the Malaysian debut of MiYOSMART Coating STX (Smooth Touch Xtreme), a new lens coating designed specifically for active children. The STX coating improves lens durability, repels water, grease, and fingerprints, and extends clarity – even after 2.7 years of regular use. With children frequently wiping lenses up to 8,000 times, STX ensures lenses stay cleaner and more comfortable, encouraging consistent wear crucial for effective myopia control.

With A Million Visions, HOYA Malaysia continues to lead the charge in childhood vision care, making early eye health intervention more accessible, affordable, and effective for families nationwide.
