Milolo Makes History with Malaysia Book of Records Win at Blind Box Unboxing Event

A wave of excitement swept through Central i-City as 300 toy enthusiasts came together to make history, earning Milolo a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records for the Most Participants in a Blind Box Unboxing Event. Organised by homegrown designer toy brand Milolo, the landmark event celebrated the joy of surprise, community and creativity — all hallmarks of the ever-growing pop toy culture in Malaysia.

Fans from across the country gathered to experience the thrill of unboxing blind boxes simultaneously, unveiling collectibles from Milolo’s first-ever local intellectual property, Abby the Sheep. The collective reveal transformed a simple unboxing into a shared moment of anticipation and delight, reinforcing the strong sense of camaraderie within Malaysia’s designer toy scene.

The record-setting event coincided with the grand opening of Milolo’s tenth outlet at Central i-City, Shah Alam — now its largest store to date. Beyond Abby the Sheep, the new outlet features a wide selection of blind boxes, art toys and collectibles from globally loved IPs such as The Monsters, Twinkle Twinkle and Crayon Shinchan, further cementing Milolo’s position as a key player in the pop toy retail space.

For the day, Central i-City’s central concourse was transformed into a vibrant designer toy playground. Fans mingled, connected and enjoyed interactive activities, special appearances by popular cosplayers and opportunities to win coveted prizes including an iPhone 17 Pro, an iPad and an Apple Watch — adding to the festive buzz.

Stealing the spotlight was Abby the Sheep, Milolo’s charming original character. With her fluffy silhouette, expressive eyes and whimsical outfits, Abby embodies a playful mix of innocence and imagination. The brand also showcased Why So Malaysia!, a delightful series of Malaysia-inspired pop toys that celebrate local culture and everyday life with warmth and humour — perfect companions to usher in joy and good fortune for the year ahead.

“Entering the Malaysia Book of Records is a meaningful milestone not just for Milolo, but for the passionate art toy community who joined us,” said Datuk Millan Lee, Director of Milolo. “We see events like this as platforms for fans — new and seasoned — to connect and grow together.”

Founded in 2021, Milolo has expanded rapidly, riding the global blind box phenomenon. With its outlet count doubling since 2024, the brand’s success mirrors the industry’s explosive growth, as Malaysia’s pop toy market continues to capture hearts across generations.
