MG Motor Malaysia Powers Into Year Two with EV Milestones and Strong Growth Momentum

MG Motor Malaysia is accelerating confidently into its second year in the Malaysian market, celebrating a series of major milestones, growing customer engagement and ambitious expansion plans at its “2nd Anniversary: Passion To Drive” event held at Bamboo Hills.

The brand kicked off 2026 with strong momentum across product innovation, localisation and network growth, reinforcing MG’s commitment to shaping the future of mobility in Malaysia. One of the standout achievements this year was the MG Cyberster receiving the prestigious Performance Car of the Year award by MARii, further cementing MG’s reputation for delivering electric vehicles that combine performance, innovation and bold design.

In March, MG Motor Malaysia marked another major milestone with the official roll-out of the MGS5 EV CKD at the EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) facility in Melaka. As MG’s first locally assembled electric vehicle in Malaysia, the launch signals a significant step in the brand’s localisation journey and long-term investment in Malaysia’s EV ecosystem.

Priced from RM116,900, the newly launched MGS5 EV CKD is now available for viewing and test drives at MG showrooms nationwide, alongside launch promotions worth up to RM9,000. The model is expected to play a key role in making electric mobility more accessible to Malaysians.

Beyond products, MG continued to strengthen customer engagement through festive showroom campaigns, dealer open houses and its “Experience British Driving Dynamics” test drive initiative. The brand also connected with consumers through roadshows at popular lifestyle destinations including Desa ParkCity, Quayside Mall, The Curve, Starling Mall and IOI City Mall.

The positive momentum translated into strong business performance, with MG Motor Malaysia recording a 57% sales increase compared to Q4 2025 and a 39% year-on-year growth versus Q1 2025.

Looking ahead, the brand plans to further expand its footprint with new MG 3S centres in Kuantan and Rawang, while continuing to enhance aftersales support through its growing nationwide body and paint facility network.

With innovation, localisation and customer experience at the core of its strategy, MG Motor Malaysia is poised for an even stronger journey ahead in 2026.
