Huawei Unveils FusionSolar9.0, Advancing AI-Powered Solar in Malaysia
Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has unveiled its new FusionSolar9.0 Smart PV & ESS solution in Malaysia, introducing a new generation of AI-powered, grid-stabilising solar technology designed to accelerate the nation’s clean energy ambitions.
Launched under the theme “Intelligence Behind Every Ray”, the solution marks a significant evolution from conventional solar systems into intelligent energy infrastructure capable of improving grid resilience, operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.
FusionSolar9.0 introduces several industry breakthroughs, including the world’s first grid-forming string inverter and the first 1000Vac photovoltaic (PV) system. The platform also supports up to an 11MW PV array, enabling larger-scale solar deployment with enhanced performance and reliability.
The solution is designed to support utility-scale and large commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects through Huawei’s latest 506KTL Smart String Inverters and next-generation Smart Transformer Stations (STS) ranging from 3000kVA to 11,000kVA.
A key highlight is the integration of Huawei’s LUNA2000-241 Energy Storage System (ESS), which uses AI-enabled scheduling to optimise energy storage and dispatch. The system delivers up to 20 per cent higher energy yields with a 91.3 per cent round-trip efficiency, while enabling seamless switching between on-grid and off-grid operations to reduce downtime and operational risks.
The AI-driven capabilities also enable autonomous operations with minimal on-site manpower, making the technology suitable for challenging environments such as mountainous regions, floating solar farms and remote islands. Advanced self-optimisation and predictive maintenance features improve fault detection by over 50 per cent and reduce manual inspections.
According to Chong Chern Peng, Executive Vice President of Digital Power Business at Huawei Malaysia, intelligent energy solutions will play a critical role in helping Malaysia achieve its target of 70 per cent renewable energy capacity by 2050.
Over a 25-year lifecycle, FusionSolar9.0 can reduce operating costs by up to USD300,000 while delivering stronger plant reliability, lower levelised cost of energy (LCOE) and more predictable returns for businesses and investors.
