UNIQLO’s “The Heart of LifeWear” Initiative Brings Comfort to Over 26,000 Malaysians in Need
15,500 new clothing items delivered this year through partnerships with local NGOs
Global apparel retailer UNIQLO continues its mission to improve everyday life through the second year of The Heart of LifeWear, a global clothing-donation initiative designed to bring the comfort of LifeWear to communities in need. Throughout October and November, UNIQLO Malaysia extended the programme’s reach by working closely with five NGO partners: UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency), Rotary Club of Kuching Central, Malaysia Relief Agency (MRA), Alpro Foundation, and the Malaysian Red Crescent Sunflower Centre.
Since its launch in 2024, The Heart of LifeWear has positively impacted more than 26,000 Malaysians by providing new UNIQLO clothing to underserved individuals and families facing hardship. This support aims to uplift recipients’ comfort, dignity, and confidence in their daily lives.
Through these partnerships, 15,500 pieces of UNIQLO AIRism clothing were distributed this year to refugees, longhouse communities in rural Sarawak, flood-affected families, underserved students, and children with special needs. The cool, quick-drying garments provided not only physical comfort but also a meaningful reminder that simple acts of care can make a lasting difference.
“At UNIQLO, we are continually reminded of how powerful something as simple as clothing can be,” said Dawn Chow, Director of Sustainability and Corporate Public Relations, UNIQLO Malaysia. “Beyond practicality, clothing has the ability to restore comfort and dignity. Through The Heart of LifeWear, we hope to share that sense of care and hope with the communities who need it most.”
This year’s initiative also coincides with UNIQLO Malaysia’s 15th anniversary—a milestone that underscores the brand’s deepening connection with Malaysians since opening its first store in 2010. The programme reflects UNIQLO’s belief that LifeWear is more than apparel; it is a philosophy centred on improving everyday life through comfort, thoughtfulness, and care.
“We seldom receive high-quality clothing that brings such comfort,” shared a mother from the Jakun tribe in Kg. Peta, who received donations through MRA Johor. “This gesture of kindness truly warms our hearts.”
Taskiah, a student from the Rohingya Education Centre Gombak, added: “This experience shows how powerful kindness can be. I’ll continue working hard in my studies, and one day, when I have enough rezeki, I want to help others and pass on this hope.”
As part of UNIQLO’s global commitment to donate one million pieces of clothing worldwide, The Heart of LifeWear continues to expand across Malaysia each year, reaching those who need it most.
