Yeo’s Gives Tuna a Japanese Twist with Malaysia’s First-Ever Teriyaki Tuna

“Yeo’s Itadakimasu – Tuna with a Twist” brings the taste, culture and spirit of Japan to Bukit Bintang

Kuala Lumpur, 3 October 2026 – Familiar tuna just got a delicious Japanese makeover. Yeo’s has unveiled its first-ever Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna in Malaysia, bringing a savoury-sweet teriyaki twist to a pantry staple Malaysians know and love.

The launch came to life through “Yeo’s Itadakimasu – Tuna with a Twist”, a vibrant Japanese-inspired experience held from 2–4 October at The Starhill Ground Floor Piazza, Bukit Bintang. From tuna sampling and Japan-inspired photo moments to a Gashapon game, stamp-collecting adventure and cosplay competition, visitors were invited to discover Yeo’s latest flavour in playful, unexpected ways.

Building on Yeo’s long-standing spirit of innovation, the new Teriyaki Tuna pairs tender tuna with a savoury-sweet teriyaki sauce, offering a fresh alternative alongside its popular Chilli Spicy Tuna. Designed for today’s lifestyles, it can be enjoyed straight from the can, paired with rice or noodles, or turned into easy, creative meals at home.

“Yeo’s has always evolved with consumers while staying true to our heritage,” said Tan Mei Yen, Yeo’s Country General Manager. “With Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna, we’re exploring a new flavour inspiration from Japan and giving a familiar pantry staple a contemporary twist that families and younger generations can enjoy in their own way.”

The excitement extended beyond the roadshow, with a street activation inspired by Tokyo’s iconic Shibuya Crossing. Dressed in traditional Japanese wafuku, Yeo’s guerrilla crew brought an unexpected touch of Japan to the streets of Bukit Bintang.

The journey continues with the “Yeo’s To Japan Contest – Win Tickets to Japan”, running from 1 October to 30 November 2026. Consumers who purchase participating Yeo’s Tuna products and share how they enjoy them on social media stand a chance to be among 12 winners.
